Ayurveda Training Accreditation Board (ATAB)
Ayurveda Training Accreditation Board (ATAB), operating under Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), is a board established by the Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India vide gazette notification dated December 2019. Its primary objective is to accredit Ayurveda training courses being conducted both within India and abroad, which does not fall under the purview of National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) Act 2020, formerly known as the Indian Medicine Central Council (IMCC) Act 1970, or any other regulatory bodies.
ATAB serves as a mechanism to ensure the uniformity, quality and standardization of Ayurveda training programs, thereby enhancing the credibility and effectiveness of Ayurvedic education. By accrediting these courses, ATAB aims to uphold the integrity of Ayurvedic teachings, promote excellence in training methodologies, and safeguard the interests of students and practitioners alike.
Through its accreditation process, ATAB evaluates various aspects of Ayurveda training programs, including curriculum content, faculty qualifications, infrastructure, and teaching methodologies through its pre-defined ATAB standards. Accredited Ayurveda courses receive recognition for meeting predefined standards of quality and excellence, thereby assuring students and stakeholders regarding the credibility and authenticity of the training provided.

1. Voluntary Scheme: Participation in ATAB accreditation is voluntary for Ayurveda training courses run by different Training Providers/ Institutions. Institutions have the option to undergo the accreditation process to validate the quality and standardization of their programs.
2. Accreditation for Non-Regulated Courses: ATAB focuses on accrediting Ayurveda courses that are not covered under the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) Act 2020 (formerly known as the Indian Medicine Central Council Act 1970) or any other regulatory body. This ensures that non-formal Ayurveda education programs receive recognition for their quality and standards.
3. Global Standardization: The board aims to bring uniformity and standardization to non-formal Ayurveda education on a global scale. By establishing standardized criteria and evaluation processes, ATAB ensures that accredited courses meet consistent quality benchmarks, regardless of their geographic location.

a. Level-I (Listing of Training Courses): This option involves creating an inventory of training courses available globally in Ayurveda. The purpose is to compile a comprehensive list of courses, with the ultimate goal of bringing them under the framework of accreditation. This initial step helps in identifying and cataloguing existing training opportunities in Ayurveda.
b. Level-II (Self-Declaration of Conformity to Basic Accreditation Standard): Training providers have the opportunity to assess themselves against the prescribed Basic Accreditation Standard. They can self-declare the conformity based on their self-assessment without any external intervention by the Ayurveda Training Accreditation Board (ATAB) or any third party. This option allows institutions to evaluate their adherence to accreditation standards.
c. Level-III (Basic Accreditation of Ayurveda Courses): Under this level, training providers can apply for formal accreditation of their Ayurveda courses through independent assessments conducted by ATAB. The accreditation process involves assessing the training provider's compliance with the prescribed ATAB Basic Accreditation Standards. This level offers formal accreditation of the quality and standardization of Ayurveda courses, enhancing their credibility and value.
Note: Level-I and Level-II do not provide any sort of accreditation to the Ayurveda courses of the institutions by ATAB.
These options provide flexibility for training providers/institutions to engage with the accreditation process according to their readiness and resources. They can choose the level of involvement that best suits their needs and objectives, whether it's simply listing their courses, conducting self-assessment, or pursuing formal accreditation. Overall, this initiative aims to improve the quality and standardization of Ayurveda training courses, ultimately benefiting students and practitioners worldwide.
